Hokay, i heard that some people were saying their 360 was scratching their discs, so i decided to try it out on my 360. Now this might not be accurate because i didn't test a 360 game, i was too afraid. I tested an original xbox game, and a data disc (which i just found out can be played on the 360!). So here it is.

The results:
Xbox Game: Very samll scratches, hardly noticible
Data Disc: Just peachy, same as before

Video

I have come to the conclusion that either:
A) Only some 360's are scratching discs
B) It only scratches 360 games
C) Maybe my 360 is just special

this isn't a defective thing, its not like the 360 is crapping out, its like they didn't put the pads in on the disc tray to keep the disc settled

Hint: If you dont want this to happen... Dont turn you box while a game is in the drive... it cost me $12 to get my COD2 fixed after mine killed it... it only scrathes if you turn you box... it wont scratch for anything else

I thought it only happened if you moved your xbox from horizontal to verticle(standing up) or vice-versa.

I heard it was only from verticle placement of the 360 and they system being bumped while disk is spinning... but i may be wrong... i have my horiz so this doesnt happen as well as a foot on each side for good air flow =P

Lol I saw a vid of someone doing it with quake 4 and it got real messed up.
I think its only the 360 discs because like you said they spin hella fast.

yesterday i looked at my halo2 disk and it looked more scracthed than it was before Confused . so maybe it does work on normal xbox games, or mine scratches xbox disks and doesnt scratch 360 disks..... that would be weird... and on my last post i forgot to say that i only looked at my 360 games

Yea, something about moving a console when it has a disc spinning at a high speed just doesn't appeal to me.

B is correct. See the 360 games spin very fast when compared to the orginal xbox games. If there is anything is the disk drive or if the disk slips it will wobble and tear your game a new one. If this happens to you alot Please, Please be sure u dont stand it up.

My Halo 2, COD2 and PDZ games all have lots of tiny scratches going in circles. I always have my 360 in horizontal and i have never stood it vertically or anything, and i always keep the games in their boxes. It struggles to load these games sometimes now.

if u have your 360 standing up in makes a huge circle on the disc. thats why i have mine laying down now bc i totally ruined my madden nfl 06. So have your 360 laying down if u dont want the worst scratch like i got.
