As of now, the domain for highspeedhalo has expired. Goatrope's on renewing it, so until then, I obviously won't be able to post any runs. But we'll be back soon!

Haha, a bit late don't you think? Razz

Question though, will the HSH that come back up be the same as the old one in layout etc.?

Did goatrope leave because of personal problems or did he take a break?

I miss him around here.. I don't know what happened to him.

I know we kind of have a thread about this, but I'm wondering Cody, could you maybe post any news about the site in this thread? It may get more recognition that way.

I could usually get in touch with Flechette or Goatrope at any time, and by the way it looks now is that Goatrope is working on the problem. I will keep you guys updated when I find out something new. And to answer Scurty's question, Goatrope doesn't come to HiH anymore (and rarely plays Halo either). He owns the #HiH channel in IBO, but now went back to being a HBO person and still spares some time for HSH.

How do you work on paying for the domain name? Does he not have the money or somthing? Why can't he just pay for it and that is it? AHH! CONFUSION!

Actually 117 isn't his "name" its the number he was assigned when he became a spartan, each of the spartans had a number and thats how they were counted in case they had the same name.
His name is John though.

I have no idea who's actually in control of the site now. Client status for DELETE, RENEW, TRANSFER, and UPDATE are all prohibited (basically, I don't even think Goatrope could get on the site if he wanted). Go-Daddy Software Inc. is still the sponsoring registrar... so whatever. I really want the name, but can't find out where in the world to just outright tell someone that. Go-Daddy's page is about as dumb as dumb gets.

Also, to be able to even bid on the site required a $200US minimum bid... and registering with Afternic for $49US more. So unless someone knows how to get this site for less than 250 bucks, I'm not sure I can swing it. I'm still unemployed.

Also (again) I've been AFK because of the unemployment and general moving around. Haven't touched halo in like... 3 weeks. *cry*

HSH.org is gone, I think -- it's now registered to a person who is a domain squatter. I don't understand exactly what happened either -- I knew that goat was going to renew the domain, and the registration expiry date on the domain changed from 2006 to 2007 shortly afterward (i.e. someone renewed the domain) -- my guess is that since godaddy, like most other registrars, has its own domain bidding system, they put the domain up for auction and someone bid on it, so godaddy re-registered the domain themselves and transferred it over to the highest bidder at the end of the auction. (I had put in a bid of my own via SnapNames in case the domain lapsed, but I cancelled it when I saw the domain had been renewed for another year; it wouldn't have made any difference, though, since godaddy re-registered it before it ever made it out into the 'expired domains' pool.)

In other words, unless someone wants to buy it back from the squatter (who's likely to want thousands of dollars for it), I think highspeedhalo.org is gone forever (or at least a year; if the squatter lets it expire in a year and one of us bids for the domain, we could get it back then.).

Just in case anyone missed it, I'll repeat my offer from earlier in the thread: I'd be happy to help with the site in any way I can; I'll happily pay for a new domain and hosting and whatnot if it means that HSH stays on the air.

I'm not a speedrunner myself (I do try it almost every day...), but I watched this forum and site for a looooong time. I really love to see speedruns... So I wanna help the community, I can't speedrun, but I can design website's, making a interface and other php systems. So I would love to help to get the community back up again.

I was thinking of highspeedhalo.com? I don't care paying mony for it, if got enough so...

EDIT: That should be .net

Btw, do we have a back-up from where we can build?
