I'm thinking about getting a pet. I already have

1. A playful male golden retriever (outside mostly during the day, inside while sleeping, in the morning, and to play)
2. An old, male cat (outside, runs into the house every chance he gets)
3. A female, young, scared-easily cat (outside, never comes in the house unless I carry her in)

What are some pets I should get? Why? What is the best gender?

Also, no one in my house is allergic to any animals, I have a sis in 2nd grade, I'm in 5th grade, and my 2 parents

You should get a border collie. They're the smartest breed of dog. My dog is a border collie, and she's named Sidney. She's cool.

If you're both that young, I wouldn't reccomend a cat, they don't like loud noises or sudden movements. A bird maybe? I have a couple Cockatiels, taught one to mimic speach and the other to mimic music, they're pretty awesome animals. Just don't let them get outside, they're very fast birds so if they get out you'll never see them again. Also you'll probably have to buy more than one or else it'll get prone to depression.

Also Rats are pretty cool (yes, I'm serious) they're very friendly, don't bite, intelligent, and really easy to take care of. And they're solitary so you don't need to buy more than one

Well, that depends if your cat is a hunter or not, I had one cat who never even bothered my rats (used to breed and sell them) though if you're worried, you can keep them in a room with the door shut although if you have a good cage it shouldn't even be a problem.

Okay thanks, this morning while walking to the bus stop I was a dead mouse/rat, so I'm guessing it's one of my cats or the neighbors, most likely mine.

Get a female Golden Retrevier if yours isn't fixed, that way you can breed them and make lots of money selling the puppies when they get older or give some to friends. If he's fixed then I dunno right now. Oh and your 12?! Man I thought you were older, your pretty muture for your age. (Unlike waterboi)

Dogs are great. I have 4. But if you want something that will always be fun, get a ferret. I just got mine, and I love him to pieces already. Very Happy
