I beleive that he did the lunge attack at the other player while he was in the passenger seat. then the other player got into the banshee and rode to the other side. Then he elite got out with the lunge attack still in process i guess. So he flew to the other dude, hit him. Then held down x to board it. Nice thinking Dark Helmet.
